It has an energy you can feel. The monastery itself is the most photographed thing in all of the Spiti Valley but the monks are another story. Both for good reason. The structure is incredible and the monks keep to themselves, spending hours each day praying and tending to their duties around the monastery. On my last visit I had spent the night, and in the morning I sat on one of the many rooftops looking down at the monks as they rehearsed their scriptures. All of a sudden the eldest man of the group motioned for me to come down. He asked me to take some photos, he said to do whatever I would like, it would not be distracting. So I made my rounds drinking tea, chatting, laughing and taking some photos of the great guys of Key Monastery.
