Porthole, Pagoda or Pocket bike?

Before leaving for this trip, a friend had asked me to take a photo of the first thing I saw when I got to Bangkok – here it is…sort of.

I saw Thailand from the translucent porthole, also known as a window – so maybe that was the first thing I saw?

Then the flying machine touched down in the land of many smiles , I was in an ‘airport’ – so maybe this was it?

Emerging from the cab, I felt the heat, humidity and the hustle of Khao San Road –  was this perhaps the first thing I saw?

Technicalities always get the best of me, and I am not interested in making any more decisions than necessary at this point, so I’ll leave it up to you to decide what the first thing I saw in Bangkok was – the photos are below, what do you think?

P.S. – The last photo below was not the first thing I saw, but she did prepare the first thing that I ate. Mmmmm. Remember the  Seinfeld episode with the ‘Soup Nazi’? Well this woman was the opposite of that guy – soup for everyone!!

Scooters/Motorcycles are the prominent mode of transportation in Bangkok, this little guy looked like ton of fun. I thought about taking it for a joy ride, then i remembered that Thai prison would not be so fun…

This woman was a sweetheart and never stopped smiling. As as walked down the street, a local man was eating her soup and told us we needed to try it. His praise was sincere and absolutely correct.
